about

“The very enjoyable music on The Jazz Cave is his latest accomplishment.”
Scott Yanow, Jazz Journalist/Historian

The Jazz Cave features the Bevan Manson Trio with Edwin Livingston, bass and Matt Gordy, drums as well as several tunes with celebrated jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton, with appearances by organist Brian Charette, bassists Jeff D’Angelo and Santino Tafarella, and percussionist Brad Dutz.

Bevan Manson has performed with Jimmy Guiffre, George Garzone, Bob Sheppard, Gunther Schuller, Howard McGhee, Ira Sullivan, Ron Jones L.A. Big Band, Cecil McBee, his own trio and sextet, and many other ensembles.

Formerly a faculty member at New England Conservatory and UC Berkeley, he currently directs the jazz program at Ventura College. As a composer, his music has been played by the Encore Saxophone Quartet, San Francisco Symphony, the Lobo Ensemble, Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra, and many others. Bevan recently wrote the string arrangements for celebrated baritone saxophonist Gary Smulyan, which he conducted at the Blue Note in New York, and has written arrangements recorded by Manhattan Transfer vocalist Cheryl Bentyne and Cathy Segal Garcia. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music.
